Note, 4.2024 - for historical record
...just in case and for my children to know who their mom was.
“…WE, WHO BELIEVE IN FREEDOM, WE AS BLACK FEMINISTS WHO BELIEVE IN FREEDOM –– FREEDOM FROM WHITE SUPREMACY, PATRIARCHY, CAPITALISM, TRANSPHOBIA, QUEERPHOBIA, ABLEISM, AND OTHER OPPRESSIONS –– UNABASHEDLY BELIEVE IN AND STAND IN SOLIDARITY FOR A FREE PALESTINE.” - Black Women Radicals
There’s this weight; this strangeness. An imaginary mass that has settled heavily on my neck. I feel the way my neck bends slightly to the left, and this mass begins to make itself a part of me. I carry it everyday; I’ve carried it everyday. This knowing. This caring. This carrying.
As I read more; Study the world and understand people and cultures. Listen to the many people who serve as teachers and preachers and home-grown cultural experts of life, of living- I’ve noticed that the mass, that weight in my neck has gotten heavier. It’s grown. With every shared understanding of humanity, the weight of responsibility to protect it grows.
Ask yourself:
- What does humanity owe me?
- What do I owe humanity?
- What type of world do I want to live in?
